We need to create new ideas for color. In the design, in order to obtain unique design results, it is very important to challenge the traditional color. And being able to successfully use color is also a huge skill. In today’s exercise, we’ll tackle color proportions, color stories, fabrics and textures, and extracting color from your research.
In class, we learned that the proportion of color in clothes is very important. We can use the colors obtained from our artists’ research and Pantone to help us choose colors. Then, Make 3 colour stories on pantone studio from your research . Use images from your research. The colors can be bright, vibrant or muted. Then Choose one chart and apply colours to garment in different % value.Another thing we do is we look for clothes on the website and look for similar fabrics. And make a page of fabric, write down the name of the fabric you find, and find a photo of a fold or fabric. Finally, we have to think about combining the fabric with the clothing to draw the internal structure and lines. To make a complete effect, color, line, and clothing details must be included.
I think my weakness in this class is that I am not rigorous enough when dealing with clothes and fabrics. I failed to draw the details of the fabric, so the final effect drawing was not clear enough. I should draw more details of fabric on clothes and do more research to get different experiences. And my strength is that I do a good job with color. I can use the ratio of colors well to make the clothes look special. The use of color can make a dress more harmonious and natural.
